Reach residents in Spanish, too.
The report page, request types, forms, the chat and the emails all work in Spanish. Staff screens stay in English.

What it does
Sentra 311 serves residents in English and Spanish today. The public report page switches language with one button, including the request type names, descriptions and form questions; the AI chat answers in the resident’s language; tracking pages and update emails follow the resident’s language preference.
Translating dozens of request types and their questions by hand is the usual blocker. In Admin › Categories & SLAs, staff can press “Translate missing to Spanish” to draft every empty Spanish field with AI, review a preview, and save. Staff edits are never overwritten.
A report form only in English shuts out part of your city.

A day with it
On the public report page: every button and label, request group and type names and descriptions, form questions, help text and options, the location step, confirmation and tracking pages, and the public performance page.
- In the AI chat: the conversation, type names and questions.
- In email: every update template has an English and a Spanish version that staff can edit.
- Residents choose Español on the report page; the choice is remembered, and the request records the resident’s language so their updates arrive in Spanish.
- Staff can also set a caller’s language on the phone entry screen.
In practice
- A Spanish-speaking caller. A call-taker records Spanish as the caller’s language; every update email arrives in Spanish.
- Translating 70 request types. Staff press “Translate missing to Spanish”, review the preview and save, then adjust a few local terms.
- Spanish on the report page. A resident switches to Español and reports a “Bache” with Spanish questions.
Translating your request types
Admin › Categories & SLAs has a “Translate missing to Spanish” button. It drafts Spanish for every empty field — names, descriptions, questions, options and placeholders — and shows a preview before saving.
Working with a bilingual community
A resident who chooses Spanish sees Spanish type names, questions and help articles, and their request records Spanish as the update language. Staff work in English, so a request filed in Spanish shows the English type name in the staff portal, with the resident’s own words in their description exactly as written.
Accessibility, security and privacy
Translations are drafted by Anthropic’s Claude Haiku from your type names and questions; no resident data is sent for translation.
Who uses it
Spanish-speaking residents

Questions cities ask
Is the translation automatic?
AI drafts the missing Spanish; staff can review and edit every text.
Do you support languages other than Spanish?
English and Spanish today. More languages, such as Hmong and Punjabi, are on our roadmap.
Is the resident app in Spanish?
The web report page and chat are. A language switch inside the app is on our roadmap.
How much does translation cost?
It’s included. Translating a typical city’s full set of request types costs less than a cent of AI time.
Can a resident switch languages later?
Yes, on the report page at any time, or in their account preferences.
Are help articles translated automatically?
No. Articles have English and Spanish fields written by staff; empty Spanish falls back to English.
